Strategic Research Group

Would you like to influence the direction of research in paediatric neurodisability?

We are seeking two new general members and one new trainee member to join the Strategic Research Group. In our last call we had medical applications but none from professionals allied to medicine. So this call is specifically to psychologists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists - not speech and language therapists who are currently over represented on the committee. If you want to know more contact Allan Colver or any other members of the group whose details are on the web site.  Please send to Allan your CV and a covering letter explaining why you would like to be on the group and what you would bring to the group. In considering applications we also try to ensure wide geographical and professional discipline representation. His email address is allan.colver@ncl.ac.uk. The closing date is 5pm, Friday 2 December. All applications will be considered by the Strategic Research Group in the New Year, 2012.

One of the aims of BACD is “to encourage debate and promote research into the many outstanding questions in childhood disability”.

In 2008, the Strategic Research Group (SRG) was formed with the aims:

  • To identify and encourage high quality clinical research in childhood disability in Britain; in particular collaborative multi-disciplinary projects
  • To encourage and assist people in the field , including families, young people and clinicians, to identify research priorities
  • To facilitate and support the development of major research applications to Wellcome, Medical Research Council, National Institute for Health Research and national charitable funding bodies
  • To encourage and help young clinicians, with research aptitude, to pursue an academic career path
