BACD and Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust (SCH) have established a new partnership to deliver web-based distance learning courses to professionals supporting disabled children and young people and their families.

BACD members are eligible for discounted fees on all PDDL courses.


Paediatric Neurodisability Diploma

This course includes twelve subject units, delivered in four clinical modules, covering the many aspects of paediatric disability. It complements the RCPCH Paediatric Neurodisability Level 3 Training Programme. Upon successful completion of the course participants are awarded a Diploma from the British Academy of Childhood Disability.

Audience: All doctors currently providing care for disabled children and young people. Grid trainees in paediatric disability are encouraged to take the course as it provides a useful framework to gain the expected competencies.

Duration: Two-year part-time distance learning course, including four residentials in Sheffield.

Cost: £4800 / £4600 BACD members


An introduction to Paediatric Disability and Clinical Assessment Course

This course has been developed by paediatric disability experts at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. 

Audience: specialist nurses, paediatricians and any professionals working with disabled children and young people and those following different developmental pathways.

Cost: £300 / £250 BACD members


ADHD Distance Learning Course

This course is developed from unit 8 of the Paediatric Neurodisability Diploma and provides in-depth training in how to assess and support children with ADHD and their families.

Audience: Specialist nurses, paediatric trainees and other health professionals working with children and young people with ADHD.

Duration: Four months distance learning including one study day in Sheffield

Cost: £450 / £400 BACD members


Epilepsy: Diagnosis, Description, Management and Disability Course

This course is developed from unit 4 of the Paediatric Neurodisability Diploma and provides in-depth training in the assessment, description and management of epilepsy and associated conditions.

Audience: Any professionals who work with children and young people and wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of epilepsy

Duration: Approximately four months distance learning

Cost: £350 / £300 BACD members
