Gift Aid is a means by which UK charities can claim extra money from HMRC. As of January 2019, new members have had the option to sign-up to donate when joining BACD.

Currently approximately one third of BACD members Gift Aid their annual membership subscription. Increasing the proportion of members opting in to Gift Aid BACD will not only help keep the prices we charge for attending BACD events to a reasonable level, but also allowed us to keep membership rates low. It will also help support new initiatives, such as Weigh to Go!.

As a registered charity, BACD can claim 25p for every £1 of membership fees, which are treated as donations. This equates to an extra £15 a year on a consultant/SAS dr’s subscription, £11.25 on a trainee dr’s subscription, and £8.75 on a non-medical professional's subscription. Plus it won’t cost you as the member anything.

If you would like us to redeem Gift Aid on your annual membership subscription, you can give your consent online by going to the BACD website and logging in to your profile. At the bottom of the page you will see your current Gift Aid status, which you can amend by clicking the tick box. Alternatively simply contact the BACD office.

Please note that Gift Aid is for those paying tax in the UK only - we also need your current home address.

Higher rate tax payers will still be able to claim tax relief on their fees by claiming the difference between the rate you pay and basic rate on your donation. You can do this either through your Self Assessment tax return or by asking HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to amend your tax code.
