On 26 November, BACD, with nearly 70 charities, wrote to the Secretaries of State for Education and for Health and Social Care asking for urgent clarification on how un-ringfenced funding announced in the spending review – for local authority services; for NHS backlogs; and for education recovery – would be used to meet the needs of disabled children and their families.

In the absence of dedicated funding for disabled children’s health and care services, it is vital that this funding is used to address the impact of the pandemic and to begin to fill longstanding shortfalls in support such as short breaks and respite care.
